The project proposes an astronomical observatory in Los Barruecos Natural Monument, conceived as a linear intervention crossing the lake from one side to the other. The decision to build over the water responds to the site’s exceptional conditions for astronomical observation, as the lake acts as a natural buffer against surrounding light pollution, ensuring the darkness required for the observatory while enhancing the contemplation of the landscape.

The building is structured along a longitudinal axis, where the exposed structural system defines the architectural language and establishes a rhythm along the façade. The structure grows in section according to the span it needs to cover, creating a clear relationship between construction and space.

A ceramic brick envelope varies in texture and pattern throughout the building, controlling the amount of natural light entering each space and generating different atmospheres of light and shadow. This changing condition extends into the main circulation route, conceived as an architectural promenade rather than a simple corridor, guiding visitors through the observatory and creating a continuous sequence of transitions between the different spaces.
