Thermal Complex in Granada

Granada, Spain

2025

The project proposes the creation of a thermal bath complex in Alhama, Granada, where the Almohads had already established similar structures in the 12th century, taking advantage of the site’s proximity to the river.

The design seeks to extend and reinterpret the existing natural topography, introducing a geometric order through a series of walls that articulate and transform the landscape. Particular attention is given to height, light, and the arrangement and scale of the pools, which become the primary elements shaping the atmosphere of the space. The interplay between natural light and the solid concrete walls, which conceal the necessary facilities within their poche, creates a sequence of spaces with a distinctive and evocative character.

Through the relationship between topography, geometry, water, and light, the project aims to create a contemplative and immersive environment, where the architecture becomes an extension of the landscape and evokes the historical presence of the thermal baths that once occupied the site.Rocinha and improving its public realm.
